A Warm Welcome to The Old Rectory

This fine Old Rectory was built in 1868, from the private funds of the then local Rector, in the grand Victorian Gothic tradition. All the rooms have recently been completely restored and refurbished by the current owners, Jon and Selina Hepworth. They have a keen eye for detail and the reception rooms and bedrooms are tastefully equipped with antique furniture, blissfully comfortable beds and luxurious fittings. Jon is an artist, and the walls of the house are adorned with his large works of art. Selina is a musician and the drawing room houses a lovely old Bluthner grand piano. The house is set in an acre of garden, that runs down to the local medieval church and grave yard. Nestling in the trees is a pretty summer house and guests have the use of the garden and sun loungers.

Jon and Selina are both keen hosts and take a pride in giving their guests a peaceful and luxurious stay.

The local town of Ventnor is home to the famous Botanical Gardens. Ventnor enjoys a micro-climate and there is both flora and fauna only otherwise found in southern Europe, including red squirrels and green lizards. A short walk down from the gardens brings you to Steephill Cove; a romantic, secluded cove, only accessible on foot or by boat, where you can enjoy eating local crab brought in by the fisherman who lives there.
